Superbe travail !

Mylad:
Changes are globally the same as in the Windows binary, plus init stuff for the Android application. Really, doing this Changelog is not the best use of my time, so you can use such things as the repository or a mailing list devoted to tracking changes.
Quotation:
I'm not the author of some of the code related to application startup. The new trackball setting seems to reduce how often the trackball position is checked (=> sensitivity?), and the audio buffer is to avoid hiccups in audio on devices not able to display fast enough graphics.
Quotation:
This may increase sooner that expected.
Quotation:
You probably told me this 3 or 4 times, I registered it, and yet you keep harassing me with it. Firstly, I have no idea why it's happening. Secondly, it doesn't happen on all my test devices. Thirdly, if it is causing problem to your phone, then maybe Wormux isn't doing something nice, but your phone Home application shouldn't become so unstable because of it. So please, save me some time, look it up yourself, rather than this vague bug report.
Quotation:
Clicking on the minimap allows you to instantaneously move the camera to the clicked position, and then clicking on a member of your team is faster. So this kind of functionality is available, and while I can't disagree that I haven't selected the best controls, usability and ergonomy are things that determined through multiple inputs. So for now, ok, registered, please stop harassing me with this too. Volume controls are used to provide modifiers (like ctrl/alt on pc), thereby allowing quite a lot more possible actions to be mapped on buttons.
Quotation:
It's indeed hard to find a server as there are so little people using it now. As for creating a server, surprising but you're right. I thought it was not working here because of something else, but this seems a real regression. I shall look into it (and don't you agree this is more important than anything you reported before ?

Nice to hear that Wormux is coming to Android!
I installed it on my HTC Magic with CyanogenMod6 (it's Android 2.2).
Downloading works, then it says "initializing" and just exits to the home screen.
I did not expect it to run on the Magic. I think it may be due to the extremely limited RAM.

I have around 70MB free, and usually don't have trouble. What annoys me more is that your problem sounds like an immediate crash. Are you able to produce an output from adb logcat (using an Android application) or the content of stderr.txt/stdout.txt from /sdcard/Wormux?

By the way the german HTC Magic (branded by Vodafone) has just 192 Mb Ram.
Edit: I opened a thread about this in the german android-hilfe.de forum. There are already two tests from Samsung Galaxy S:
They both say it's mostly around 35-40 fps.
Edit by McFlow On 09/07/10 at 11h41
I think spica has more precisely 256MB, of which 96 disappear. The running system has the 70-80MB free I reported earlier
As for the error, it is SIGILL, meaning Illegal Instruction (not supported by CPU). I'm compiling for armv6 (-march=armv6 instead of -march=armv5), because this allows use of VFP and accelerates floating point computations. Wikipedia says Hero should be armv6, so this sounds wrong. Could you ask people knowing the internal of the Hero if there's something particular about the Hero or the kernel you're running?
Those numbers for the Galaxy S are impressive, but then this phone is a beast, even surpassing the Iphone 4.

I use Magic not Hero. But they are pretty similar.
According to the HTC Page the Magic has an MSM7200A qualcomm cpu.
According to what search engines tell me it definately is an armv6. See here for example.
Edit: This cpu is for the 32A of the Magic. The one branded by vodafone is 32B
The 32B Magic is equipped with MSM7201A. But it is armv6 as well.
I'm surprised that the HTC Hero can run Wormux since both are ARM11 processors. According to datasheets in the net they are capable of the armv6 instruction set.
What would it mean for the game if it was compiled for armv5. I have no clue how it would influence the app.

Probably a 5% fps drop, maybe more for more complex scenes (lots of explosions, flames and characters flying).
Btw, the performance reports on Galaxy S are doubtful: wormux on Android is capped initially at 25fps, and I'm wondering if the users really increased the cap.

After further tests one person says the average FPS is around 30.
Can I compile the sourcecode for the android version with just the mentioned armv5 option (to make sure this is really the problem, but somehow i doubt it, i talked to some persons in the german android irc channel. They are all sure the Magic has armv6 cpu) or do i need more options?
According to my researches the HTC Hero, Magic (also called Sapphire in some regions) and the HTC Dream (also known as G1) all have armv6 cpu.

Serväs,
I will try the last version of wormux. I'm still on the r8309. But it's working :-) And yes there is some maps which are way laggier than other ones.
Is there anyway someone interested by designing the Android team :-) with a lot of shitty crazy green robots X-)).
By the way I've played at Angry birds yesterday (also on my Hero) and something has hit me. I do think that a lot of the interest comes from the "crazy/stupid" sound/sentences that a player can tell/make. Is there any way to bring this in Wormux? I mean.. in the geek world there is a loooot of things to use like "baziinka" or "sudo-go to hell" :-)
Cheers and thanks for the hard work ;-)
Grüß,
H.

McFlow:
They can uncap this by going into the option menu and increasing the maximum fps. If they also prefer fps over visual effects, they can decrease the number of particles (same place), by changing the percentage (0 to 100 by steps of 20).
Quotation:
I have modified slightly the toolchain (configuration files) to produce armv6 binary, and someone had already reported issues with that, so I went back to armv5. I can do that again, now that I've confirmed it's problematic.
Quotation:
The CPU may or may not support all instructions (arm design is very modular, for instance it may not contain FPU) of an instruction set, but the kernel may also restricts what can be accepted. The fps drop is probably tolerable though, so I'll go back to armv5.

For some reason, this map is averagely slow. One of the fastest is city night or qingqong. Probably still unplayable for you.
Regarding h/w acceleration, I don't expect it soon: nobody in the project knows OpenGL, and Android only accept a subset (GL ES 1.1 or 2.0).
No way. I downloaded r8309 and now it launches. Let's see how it works
Edit:
3-5 FPS on the aquarium map with disabled sound.
Edit2:
About the test reports from android-hilfe.de
They changed the fps cap
