One team plays like pingus (realtime) and use the 8 different skills to get to the other team, set the countdown to blow themselves up with the enemy.
1) The ground under "drop zone area" should be impervious to damage.
2) In single player the difficult level could be determined by the number of "pingus" available.
3) If a "pingus" gets a crate, a random event could happen. (Suicide parachute troops, WWI kamakazi airplane or something else)
The other team would play like wormux. (turn based)
So it would be a battle between:
wits vs brawn
Many vs few
Creative vs destructive

Don't get me wrong I really like wormux, and it is fine just as it is.
Didn't mean to come of as rude or full of criticism. And who says that it is a good idea, wouldn't know that before it was finished and tested.
Also I'm not a programmer, and it was just an idea.

I didn't saw it as an critism to Wormux. I just said you, that the devs are spending their small amount of sparse time nearly completely to Wormux, thus they may have no time to code another game.
