Using 2 windows 7 computers with i7 quad 1g vid and 4 gig ram

The multiplayer is buggy, it goes out of sync randomly and is kind of irritating to play a match lan because of this. It happens more times than not. Thought it might have to do with number of ai and it does not.

Problem 2
The multiplayer has no options, play timer gravity or anything. It's very unbalanced and doesn't compare to worms. 1 shot kills with a bazooka so that leaves experienced players with a chance of getting to go first or lose. It's all about turns since the damage and health is out of wack. It also takes away from the skill of the game.

Main problem is how often this game goes out of sync in a match, thats got to be fixed asap, theres never anyone online either. bummer

Important question is which version are you using? You should definitely using the latest 11.04.1 version.

I think more multiplayer options are being added to the next version, but that might take a while to finish.

I am using the 11.04.1 released 4-30. It's not worth playing network games anymore, too many bugs crashes and things. Good game though.

It seems then you can't give us any clue about what what would trigger it. The first step to solve a bug is to be able to reproduce it. We can't just stare blankly at some program source code and hope to fix bugs out of luck. So, if you want to help us more in fixing them, please try narrowing the context of the problem, and report them as precisely as possible.

Usually, this happens because you selected a specific weapon and performed a specific action. A bug in 11.04 was happening only when you were laying down the construct in some particular places of the map. We did test it before release. Just not in those places only occurring in some maps and at unobvious locations.

I'm sorry for the bad experience. Maybe trying to restrict weapons you can use and see whether the desynch occurs more frequently could be worthwhile.

Also, if this happens, I think a "bug.wrf" file should be created somewhere, either in the Warmux install folder or in its folder inside Documents. As I have kind of found some problems with it, I'm not sure it is reliably created though.

There might be a temporary solution, but it is long, complex, and I am not sure how well it works. It is related with creating and editing game mode files, please look at this topic.

You mean by blowing characters off the map or into water or by exploding something close to them too? If not, then maybe you are in the "unlimited" game mode. Otherwise, yes maybe, but that's part of the tactical aspect of the game. I have seen people build a steel wall ("construct") to protect themselves.

Second point, we are so few to work on this that players return of experience is valuable to try to improve the gameplay, in particular concerning effects and damage of weapons. You can play with the values in the game mode, and see how that improve things. There's a very long road before we manage to make it more user-friendly, though.

This makes me suspect me even more you are in "unlimited" mode, as (can't validate it now and here) I think it allows easier one-shot kills.

I agree, but it's not just something that is possible in the blink of an eye. Some problems may require countless hours of debugging even when knowing the bug, and sometimes, they are so massively embedded/entangled in the game that they would require massive rewrite (and thus new bugs, and negative balance). One such case is how some characters seem to be levitating.

There were more people at some point, but we had reliability issues on multiple fronts and hurtful and long fixes to mitigate those: people clueless about their network configuration (and thus unable to host games), our own inexperience in making games (mind you, it was mostly made by passionate college students) and the numerous things to do for so few people. And this continues.

  • Frequency and reproducibility: crashes after 5 minutes of play, only after some action ...
