There is now new generic Linux installer for most Linux (x86) versions http://www.wormux.org/phpboost/download/download-4+warmux-11-04-1-linux.php
Version requirements are listed as Ubuntu >6.06, Debian >4.0, Fedora >5, OpenSUSE 10.1, but they are a bit uncertain. Any reports if installer works or doesn't work are welcome. Be sure to tell your distribution and its version.

Installs fine on Debian 5.1. Seems to pick qt for the GUI. This looks like a classical installer as seen under Windows, maybe WISE or something...
Worked with sound after I closed an application locking it (probably a problem with my own setup). I can test also on a 64bits ubuntu 10.10, but I'm not sure there's anything to learn from this.
I'm wondering if it could be integrated to the build system and also used for Windows (I'm using NSIS).

Could you please not suggest using this package for distributions where there is a package? If you do, many users will get problems from installing both via the installer and via the package. Maybe the best idea would be to add a warning like »If you have Ubuntu, try this package. If you have SuSE, try this. etc.«.

Do you mean adding notice to installer itself? There is suggestion to use distribution package in download page. WarMUX installed via installer lives completely it's own life and doesn't interfere with other Warmux installs in anyway. Default install is made to user's home directory and is started via sh script which sets envirionment variables for locale, data and font locations.
edit: There is actually one thing shared with other Warmux install, config directory. I will have to think what to do with that.

Installer is InstallJammer http://www.installjammer.com/ which seems to be very crossplatform. Or actually it didn't work properly on Linux so the installer package itself is created on Windows.
WarMUX is built on Ubuntu 6.06 (gcc 4.1) because it was easiest way to get glibc ABI dependency to low enough (second best option is about to build complete toolchain by yourself). Based on glibc ABI number it could actually work on Ubuntu 4.10, Debian 3.1 and Fedora 1 but it may be stretching other things.
I have tested this package under Ubuntu 6.06, 10.10, 11.04 (64-bit), Slackware based Salix and Meego Netbook 1.2 on normal laptop.

I tried the installer for Mikkov the other day when we were in the IRC.
Installed like a charm without any issues.
Ubuntu 11.04 (32bit)
