War is declared !

Exterminate your opponent in a 2D environment with toon-style scenery.
Each player controls the team of his choice (penguin, gnu, firefox, wilber,...) and must destroy his adversary using more or less casual weapons.
Although a minimum of strategy is required to vanquish, WarMUX is pre-eminently a "convivial mass murder" game where, turn by turn, each member of each team attempts to produce a maximum of damage to his opponents.
WarMUX is free (under GPL license) and free (no cash).
WarMUX 11.04 is released. In addition to several expected bug fixes, a new feature was added: replay recording! It will allow you to record a game you play and watch it again.
In addition, this is the first release we are currently aiming at the Android Market.
As usual, please be patient while we get and distribute the various installation packages for your environment.
Also, if you are interested in giving some of your time to support WarMUX, we could use some help regarding documentation: help ingame, translations, documentation available in the wiki...

WarMUX is out, at long last, in its first version, 11.01!It's a massive change for us (a lot of things under the hood have changed), and for you the end user (speed, bugs and devices to play it)!
Here is a more complete changelog:
- Name and numbering (year.month) change!
- Android port
- Symbian^3 port (number of characters/teams subject to memory constraint)
- More toonesque than ever characters! Cuteness not considered a weapon
- New maps: Japan-themed "ninja", nature-themed "Birds" and Space-themed "urban heights"
- Increased number of teams playable in a single game to 8
- Massive memory optimizations, and 16 bits-per-pixel rendering
- Massive speed optimization allowing better gameplay
- Help is now much richer; please help us translate it even more!
- Widget in options menu to edit keybindings
- Kinetic scrolling to browse the map
- Traditional in-game toolbar clickable, click wind indicator to display touch controls!
- Improved minimap: now displays boxes, can be resized through keyboard shortcuts, can be clicked to move around faster
- Custom teams
- Troublesome bugs fixed: OSX fullscreen, explosion when firing near a wall
The release will be progressive, and we expect a lot from your feedback as we know the room for improvement, in particular in gameplay for the mobile devices, is large.
Updated 4.2: Symbian support is now extended to S60v5 phones too.
Update 25/03: Mac OSX package network problems were fixed, please grab the new version!

Today we are announcing the effective renaming of the project to WarMUX.There will be no other unrelated change: the game will keep its license and so on. Website, mailing lists, links will have to be changed.
While this may seem mostly useless and troublesome, this was decided among the active members and the creator of the project so as to move forward. We will gradually change everything to fit this new name, so please bear with us while we finish with that transition.
This was the major step left so as to start anew. We hope to release WarMUX 10.12 by the end of the year. This will not exactly revolutionary, but at least with a batch of new stuff:
- Much improved speed - but still no accelerated card required;
- Support for touchscreens - the Android and Maemo ports really benefit from it;
- Newer skins!
- Une grande amélioration de la vitesse - mais toujours pas besoin de carte accélératrice requise;
- Support pour les écrans tactiles - les ports Android et Maemo en profitent vraiment.
- De nouvelles skins de personnage!

After some tests on a few devices, we have now sufficient confidence in the port that we can issue a beta release of Wormux for Android. Please head over to the forum for more details and instructions. Beware, you probably want to install the 42MB of additional data to SD card!
Please note that this is still "beta-quality", not yet ready for publication over the market!
